Fiona is one of the most successful and popular Australian comedians working today; in addition to her stellar comedy career she has also been a mother to five children. 2009 saw Fiona’s contribution to the Australian cultural landscape recognised when she was awarded The Northern Territories “Australian of the Year” honour.
Hailing from Alice Springs, the growth of her career is even more impressive when you take into account the geographic isolation of her home town. To have risen to become one of the most sought after stand-up comedians in the world is truly an incredible feat, and an indisputable testament to her tenacity and talent.
Fiona’s debut solo show was “Fiona her Sister and some Guy…”; it sold out Adelaide Fringe and then the Melbourne Comedy Festival in 2000, in the latter she took out the coveted best Newcomer Award for that year. Since then Fiona has sold out ten Festival shows at Melbourne Comedy Festival, five Adelaide Fringe Festivals, three Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, two Hong Kong Fringe Festival seasons and twice at The Sydney Comedy Festival. She has also been booked to perform at the invitation only “Montreal Comedy Festival”, including a prized performance in one of the globally televised “Just For Laughs Gala” TV productions.
In addition to this Festival success Fiona has also performed as the Featured Act at the world famous Hollywood Improv Comedy Club, as well as in theatres in Singapore and London. She was also selected from a world wide search to participate in the top rating USA TV program “Last Comic Standing”.
Fiona is a genuine star of comedy across the globe.
She has appeared on virtually every relevant television program on Australian television and performed radio shows on ABC Radio. She is currently finishing off her first book and writes a weekly column for Australian Women’s Weekly.
